Combined calcination and CO₂ capture in cement clinker production by use of electrical energy – ELSE

ELSE, “Elektrifisert sementproduksjon” is a Norcem managed project. The purpose of the project is to identify, describe, assess and make cost estimates of promising concepts for electrical calcination of raw meal and combining this with CO₂ capture. Since “pure” CO₂ is the only gaseous product from the process, the downstream treatment of the CO₂ is very much simplified compared to post combustion CO₂ capture.

The project is summed up in enclosed poster presented at the TCCS10 conference in Trondheim in June 2019.
